Sanctus is a charity which was established in the bitter winter of 2011. Sanctus feeds the growing number of homeless, hungry and vulnerable individuals in the city of Chelmsford. They run a free café offering breakfast, hot and cold drinks, snacks and a cooked homemade lunch. They are also able to help by offering 1:1 support and counselling, group sessions, training courses and a range of enrichment activities including a Book Club, Music Club and an Allotment Project.
On any day they can have approaching 100 service users visiting either the café or the hub and this number continues to grow. This is a mixture of occasional and regular service users so their reach and usage is extensive.
Examples of what Sanctus provides:
Sanctus is incredibly grateful to have been chosen as the charity for the Cooksmill Green Church Christmas Appeal. Your kind donations mean a lot to us and will help many people, especially during this difficult time. Sanctus has remained open throughout this year and we currently support between 200-250 people This donation will go directly towards supporting our front line services which include some of the following activities:
The café and kitchen service which offers a hot meal, snacks, hot and cold drinks, and a food bank. This service is currently run as a takeaway service 7 days every week. Over the Christmas period, this will also help with Christmas meals for our service users.
Our motto is Love All Serve All, which means we will always support anyone in need. Our service users predominantly consist of, rough sleepers, sofa surfers, those at risk of or recovering from homelessness, mental health suffers, those in recovery, ex-offenders, the elderly who cannot afford heating and food, veterans from across the service, those with disabilities which prevent them from finding work and anyone in the community needing food and companionship.
Sanctus is a small charity and without the support and generosity of people such as yourselves, we would not be able to offer all that we do to those in need. We are truly grateful for your donations.
Thriftwood is part of the SEAX Multi-Academy Trust and is situated in Chelmsford.
We are a day school catering for children and young people aged 7 to 19 years who have moderate learning difficulties – including multiple and complex needs – such as autism, speech, language and social communication difficulties.
We offer a tailored curriculum that focuses on key skills, whilst also providing a broad and engaging knowledge base. Promoting independence and personal and social skills are fundamental to every lesson.
We strongly believe in creating a culture of achievement and recognition, in which pupils want to participate, developing responsibility, tolerance and respect for others. We are inclusive and strive to work together to help our pupils reach their full potential. Our dedicated staff work hard to gain detailed knowledge of each pupil, to promote their strengths by nurturing and supporting progress so that everyone can develop confidence and build positive self-esteem.
We are keen to work closely in partnership with both parents and other agencies to build up a trusting relationship and provide a consistent approach supporting each child’s welfare.
